Advocacy

Advocacy involves encouraging lawmakers, policymakers, or government officials to back a particular cause, often through targeted actions like increasing funding or implementing specific policies. Everyone has the right and the ability to engage in advocacy. Advocacy typically focuses on raising awareness and educating others about key issues that impact the communities they serve—such as those facing disparities in food allergy treatment and care. Your voice and participation are crucial, whether you’re someone personally affected by food allergy inequities, a leader shaping systems, a staff member of a service organization, or simply a passionate ally committed to igniting change. Together, we can help ensure that food allergy inequality is addressed and ultimately eliminated.

Advocacy for food allergy health equity, particularly for underserved and minority groups, involves reaching out to members of Congress, legislative staff, or government officials to influence their position on introducing and supporting legislation aimed at reducing disparities in food allergy treatment and care. It also includes efforts to persuade the public to support our organization’s stance on these legislative proposals, building widespread backing for policies that ensure equitable access to food allergy care. By engaging both policymakers and the public, advocacy drives meaningful change and helps guarantee that all populations, regardless of background, receive the food allergy care they deserve.

Under the tab “Take Action” of this website, you'll find ready-to-use templates we created to help you contact members of Congress and advocate for meaningful food allergy equity and inclusion policy changes. We’ve also provided links to contact information for U.S. senators and house representatives.  Simply fill in your information within the template, find the senator or house representative from your state, then copy and paste the contents of the template into the contact form on your Congressperson’s website. It's a quick and easy way to make your voice heard and drive change for food allergy equity.
